Everything in one place

One menu bar icon, a whole text toolbox

Built‑in transformations

Instantly change text case on your Mac — UPPERCASE, lowercase, Capitalize All Words, Capitalize First Word — plus Remove Extra Spaces and Dash-Separated for quick cleanup. Six ready-made transforms, no setup. Need snake_case or a separator of your own? Save it as a custom script.

  • Uppercase big news BIG NEWS
  • Remove Extra Spaces Hi there Hi there
  • Dash-Separated blog post blog-post

Custom scripts with regex

Build your own find‑and‑replace and regex rules with a {text} placeholder, and reuse them with one click. Run a rule to find & replace with regex on your clipboard without opening Terminal or wiring up an automation tool.

  • Find [0-9] · Replace * 1234 ****
  • Replace - [ ] {text} Milk - [ ] Milk

Format conversion

Convert between Markdown, Rich Text, HTML, and Plain Text in any direction: convert Markdown to rich text to paste your notes as formatted text, or strip formatting down to clean plain text — straight to your clipboard.

Ready-made script library

Browse a growing library of ready-made transformations — whitespace and typography fixes, cleanup and reformatting — grouped by category and searchable. To start from a ready-made script, add one to your own scripts with a click, then tweak it like any script you wrote yourself.

Recent & Favorites

Pin the transformations you reach for every day so they’re always at the top, and jump straight back to the ones you just used. Your routine stays one click away.

History & No‑history mode

A local history of your past transformations, kept on your Mac — open any entry to copy its original or transformed text. You set how long it’s kept, from 1 to 30 days, or turn it off entirely. Need to skip a single run? Hold ⌃ Control while you transform and it’s never written to history.

Your menu, your way

Options let you hide the sections you never use, so the menu stays as short as your workflow needs. Turn on Launch at Login and Clip Text Transform is in the menu bar from the moment you sign in.

41 languages

The interface speaks 41 languages out of the box. Use Clip Text Transform in the language you actually work in.

Built for the way you already work

Same app, three very different desks. Here's the before → after — or see what you can do with it, task by task.

For developers

Before: you copy a field name like user_name out of the code and need it as user-name for a CSS class or a URL — so you go hunting for a converter site, pasting internal identifiers into a random web tool.

After: copy it, run your saved script, paste user-name. Grab a messy chunk from a log, click Remove Extra Spaces, drop it straight into the ticket. Regex and custom scripts run on your Mac — your code never touches a browser tab.

user_name user-name

For writers & marketers

Before: a client sends a headline IN ALL CAPS, and your Markdown notes won't keep their formatting when you paste them into email or your CMS.

After: copy the headline, click Capitalize All Words, done. Write in Markdown, convert to Rich Text, and paste into your mail editor with formatting intact — no reformatting by hand.

TOP PICKS Top Picks

For editors & translators

Before: you're enforcing a style guide across languages — the same case fixes, the same terminology swaps, over and over, tool to tool.

After: save your recurring find-and-replace rules as custom scripts, export them to share the style guide with your team, and clean text before it hits your CAT tool. Favorites and Recent keep the routine ones close.

Private by design — your clipboard never leaves your Mac

Your text is transformed on your Mac, on-device. There's no cloud step in the middle — and no account to create. Three simple things to know:

Read the full Privacy Policy
  • Only anonymous diagnostics are collected

Crash reports and usage stats — enough to fix bugs and see which features matter.

  • Your raw text is never collected

The text you convert stays on your Mac — it isn't collected, uploaded, or attached to any diagnostics.

  • Sensitive values are masked before sending

Sensitive values in your script definitions are masked on your Mac before anything is sent. Always on, nothing to remember.

Why is it free?

No trial timer, no locked "pro" tier, no ads, and no selling your data — Clip Text Transform is simply free to use. The built-in transformations, format conversion, and unlimited custom scripts are all included, with nothing held back for a paid plan later.

It's free because there's no paid tier to upsell you to, no ads to serve, and no data to sell. On-device by design means there's no cloud to run and no reason to monetize your text.

Format conversion

Convert Markdown, HTML and Rich Text — see it change

Pick a "Convert to" option and your clipboard changes format on the spot. Turn Markdown or HTML into formatted rich text, or strip everything back to clean plain text — then paste it wherever you're writing.

  • Markdown
    **bold** bold

Markdown → Rich Text. **bold** becomes bold. Paste your notes as formatted text.

  • Rich Text
    Title # Title

Rich Text → Markdown. A formatted heading comes back as # Title — clean Markdown you can commit.

  • HTML
    <b>Term</b> Term

HTML → Plain Text. <b>Term</b> becomes Term. Drop the tags, keep the words.

Make it yours

Build and share your own transformations

When the built-ins don't cover it, build your own transformations. Custom scripts turn repetitive edits — terminology swaps, formatting fixes, cleanup passes — into a one-click transform.

  • Start from the library. Don't start from a blank field — pick a ready-made script from the built-in library, add it to your scripts, and edit it to taste.
  • Live preview. See exactly what your rule does to sample text as you build it — no guess-and-check, no running it on real content to find out.
  • Full regex + {text} placeholder. Match and replace with real regular expressions; {text} stands in for your clipboard content so you can wrap, reshape, or reformat it.
  • Find & replace, no Terminal. Everything a quick shell script would do, in a menu — no scripting environment to set up.
  • Import & export. Export a script as a file and hand it to a teammate; import theirs. Share a style guide as a set of transforms.

Frequently asked questions

Is Clip Text Transform free?

Yes. The built‑in transformations, case conversion, Markdown / Rich Text / HTML / Plain Text conversion, and unlimited custom scripts are all free — with no account and no ads.

Does it collect my data or send text to the cloud?

No. All transformations run on your Mac, and the text you convert is never collected or uploaded — it stays on your clipboard, on your device. The only data collected is anonymous diagnostics — crash reports, usage stats, and your custom‑script definitions, with sensitive values in them masked on your Mac before anything is sent. None of it is linked to your identity. If you want the same scripts and settings on another Mac, you can turn on iCloud sync in Options — it’s off by default, goes through your own iCloud account rather than through us, and never includes your clipboard or your history. There’s also a No‑history mode: hold ⌃ Control while transforming and the result is never saved to your history.

Does it work offline?

Yes. Because everything happens on‑device, Clip Text Transform works with no internet connection.

What text transformations are supported?

Six built‑in transforms — Lowercase, Uppercase, Capitalize All Words, Capitalize First Word, Remove Extra Spaces, and Dash-Separated — plus format conversion between Markdown, Rich Text, HTML and Plain Text. Beyond those, there is a built‑in library of ready-made scripts you can add in a click, and for anything else — snake_case, a terminology swap, a cleanup pass — you can write your own find‑and‑replace and regex scripts.

Do I need to select text or open an editor first?

No. Clip Text Transform works on whatever's already on your clipboard, straight from the menu bar — there's no text to select and no separate window to open. Copy, click a transformation, and paste. Built‑in transforms, custom regex scripts, and format conversion are all in one place.

How many custom scripts can I create?

As many as you like — there’s no limit. Save unlimited custom find‑and‑replace and regex scripts, and use import/export to share them with your team.

Which languages does it support?

The interface is localized into 41 languages, so you can use it in the language you work in:
